Victory in the Derby against Blanes

This Sunday, February 22nd, the players from Club Escacs Lloret traveled to Blanes to play the Selva Marítima derby. The match was expected to be very close on all boards, on a special day in which our club was looking to secure points to mathematically guarantee their place in the league and continue fighting for a podium finish.

The first draws came early, signed by Manel Castellanos, who remains undefeated this year.

After more than two hours of play, Daniel Delgado secured another hard-fought draw. Shortly after, we took the lead thanks to a crucial victory by Jesús Urresti, who capitalized on an opponent's mistake in a close finish.

From that point on, the struggle was noticeable in every game, but little by little we managed to maintain our advantage. Victories came for Albert Olivas and Biel Castellanos (both also undefeated in this league), as well as draws for Alexander Kripakov and Sergii Shchurenko.

The match ended with a triumphant victory for Georgi Stoykov, who secured the final score of 4-6 and earned us another point in the standings. This result allows us to maintain our historic second place with three rounds remaining and also marks our fifth consecutive victory.

Next Sunday the team will host Palafrugell at home, having already achieved their objectives and with the hope of achieving something historic for our club this season.
