Pau Comas champion of Section A at the XIX Sant Adrià Open
Pau Comas had a spectacular performance at the XIX San Adrià Open, which took place between April and June 2025. With 6 points out of a possible 9, Pau finished the tournament in 6th place overall (starting 20th according to the initial ranking) and took the prize for the highest category (ELO 2000-2150).
Looking at each game individually, the results are very good: 4 wins, 4 boards, and only one loss against a FIDE Master. Furthermore, the last two boards were against two Catalan Masters, and the final game of the championship was particularly noteworthy. Against MC Miquel Fernández-Diaz in Pau, he had good chances of winning until the very end, but unfortunately, the advantage slipped away due to a small detail, reaching a boards-and-boards position despite the material advantage.

Even so, the result has been good, allowing en Pau to become champion of the San Adrià Stage A and gain 33 Catalan Elo points, bringing him very close to the 2100-point mark (he will reach 2088). It will only be a matter of time, as he already has the skill. His performance rating in this tournament was 2164. We can only congratulate en Pau and wish him much more success!
