Greatest hits from the youngest members of Lloret

The Lloret Chess Club's youth academy continues to demonstrate its talent and potential with outstanding performances in the 3rd Costa Brava Junior Circuit. The last few weeks have been full of successes for our young players, who have shone in various competitions throughout the Girona region.

Last Sunday, May 25th, Matthew Torres was crowned champion of the under-8 tournament held in Blanes. Despite being one of the youngest players in the competition, he managed to score 3.5 points out of a possible 7, defeating opponents from the under-10 category and surprising everyone in the first round when he beat a player ten years his senior. This achievement demonstrates both his ambition and his mastery of the game.

The following week, in L'Escala, Arnau Jiménez added to Lloret's list of achievements in this circuit, becoming the under-12 champion with a commendable score of 5 points. This success adds to his already impressive results in previous tournaments, where he has stood out for increasing his Elo rating by more than 40 points in both Standard and Rapid, and for the third-place finish he achieved with the Lloret Chess Club's under-12 team at the Girona Team Active Championship.

Other members of the club also shone in l'Escala: Olga Levina was second in the under-12 category, while Elián López achieved second place in the under-8 category, tying on points with the champion, Guillem Gilabert, current champion of Catalonia in his category.

Andrei Frolov, meanwhile, reached the podium at the Serinyà Enroque Trophy with a magnificent second place in the under-12 category. This is Andrei's second trophy this year, having also achieved third place at the Girona Under-12 Team Active Championship, thus consolidating his progress in his second year with the club.
