Great Performance by Lloret de Mar Players in the 4th Sant Jordi U18 Tournament in Blanes
Last Sunday, April 26th, the 4th Sant Jordi U18 Chess Tournament was held at the Blanes Sports City. This competition, year after year, continues to grow in both participation and skill level, solidifying its position as a prominent event within the youth chess calendar.
From the Club d'Escacs Lloret, we participated with a large representation of eight players, who competed with great enthusiasm, demonstrating effort, sportsmanship, and clear progression in their game.
The main protagonist of the day was Lev Shustov, who completed an excellent tournament, constantly fighting for the top positions and achieving a well-deserved second place in the general classification, a result that highlights his perseverance and good form.
Beyond the podium, it is also worth noting the good performance of the rest of the club's players, who gained experience in a demanding and very evenly matched tournament. Special mention goes to Evgeny Lyubchenko, who achieved five points after a period of inactivity — it was a pleasure to see him back at the boards — as well as the 4.5 points achieved by Gael Puiggalí (U10), from the online group coached by Albert Olivas, which demonstrates the success of these classes we have launched this year.
We want to give a special mention to the Club d'Escacs Blanes for the excellent organization of the tournament and for ensuring that the event took place in an unbeatable atmosphere at all times. The high-quality facilities and meticulous management contributed to players and companions enjoying a magnificent day of chess.
In short, it has been a very positive experience for our club, which continues to commit to the training and participation of its players in local competitions.
We keep going! ♟️
