Lloret Chess Club shines in Malgrat: Lloret B crowned champions and podium finish for Lloret A

This July, Malgrat de Mar hosted the first edition of the Costa Brava Summer Team League, a summer event that brought together clubs from the area for three intense days of chess. The Club Escacs Lloret was represented by two teams, Lloret A and Lloret B, which competed in different sections and delivered outstanding performances.

The big news came from Lloret B, which completed an impeccable tournament to become champion of its category. The Lloret team showed great consistency throughout the competition and even mathematically secured the championship with one round remaining.

This triumph is a well-deserved reward for the players' hard work and confirms the high level of the club's youth academy and chess players. The team was made up of youth players Bastian Suazo, Sara Planas, Evgeny Lyubchenko, and Arnau Jiménez, as well as Maria Garrido, who made her official debut, and the club's honorary president, Mr. Albert Robert, who, at 88 years old, demonstrated a very high level and finished undefeated.

For its part, Lloret A also made a good impression. After a very even and hotly contested competition that went down to the last round, the team managed to finish in third place, only losing to the champions, Tordera A, and stepped onto the podium to lift the bronze trophy.

JJ Mateo, Georgi Stoykov, Toni David, Albert Olivas, Biel Castellanos, and young Bastian Suazo competed with the team. Bastian ended up playing with both of the club's teams and helping both to lift their trophies. We congratulate him here: it's rare for someone to lift two trophies in the same tournament!

With these results, Club Escacs Lloret returns from Malgrat with a very positive balance: a championship title and a third place, a success that reflects the club's current sporting momentum and the commitment of all its players.
