Spectacular double by the players of Club d'Escacs Lloret in Sant Antoni de Calonge

Last Sunday, the young talents of the Lloret Chess Club shone at the tournament held in Sant Antoni de Calonge. Olga achieved a commendable 3rd place in the overall standings, while Arnau, with a great performance, finished 4th overall and was crowned champion in the under-12 category.

Both players had a magnificent tournament with five wins, one draw, and only one loss, totaling 5.5 points out of 7 and improving on their result in the previous event of the Circuit. Their head-to-head match took place in the fourth round, and this time Arnau emerged victorious, as he was the only one able to defeat Olga Calonge with the white pieces.

Another success, then, for our two young chess players, confirming their great present and promising future in the world of chess.

Also noteworthy was the strong performance of Elián López, who, despite a slow start to the tournament, finished with 3 points, a very good result for an under-8 player. In the same category, Oriol Gómez (Playa de Aro), also a student at our chess school, was crowned champion with 4 points and a round to spare, demonstrating great skill against his opponents.
