Doble Victoria del Lloret en la Liga Catalana de Ajedrez

Double victory for Lloret in the Catalan Chess League

A spectacular day this Sunday the 25th for Club d'Escacs Lloret, who achieved a double victory in their away matches in Figueres and Blanes.

Team A traveled to the capital of the Alt Empordà region without JJ and Biel, two key players for the team, compared to last week. Their places were filled by Jesús Urresti and Toni David. The match began very evenly, with Albert Olivas drawing on board 6. By mid-morning, the games on boards 7 through 10 had finished, maintaining the tie thanks to victories by Sergii Shchurenko and Daniel Delgado, which brought the score to 2.5-2.5. Shortly after, Alexander Kripanov put the team ahead by capitalizing on an opponent's mistake. Finally, the match went our way by the narrowest of margins thanks to wins by Carles Jordà on the first board and Georgi Stoykov on the fifth. Unfortunately, the debutants Jesús and Toni, despite having good positions for much of the day, paid dearly for some errors in the final stages of their games. Even so, the balance is very positive and this first point is key for Lloret in the standings, in a Preferente group that, as happened last season, is expected to be very evenly matched.

Meanwhile, Team B fielded the same lineup as the previous week in their trip to Blanes. Despite three of our players—Bastian, Olga, and Arnau—having played two games the day before in Olot, as part of the Girona Individual Age Group Championship, they performed at a high level and won the derby against Blanes' Team B. Sara Planas secured a draw in a hard-fought game, giving the team a decisive 0.5-3.5 victory.

Next week we will all meet at home, at Puntet de Lloret, to receive Sant Gregori and La Verneda-Malgrat B.
