Derrota del Lloret A y Buen Inicio del Lloret B en el Playoff

Lloret A suffers defeat, while Lloret B makes a strong start in the playoffs.

This Sunday, Club d'Escacs Lloret played another day of competition with mixed results for our teams.

Lloret A failed to score in their visit to Platja d'Aro, falling further behind in the promotion playoffs. The match ultimately went to the home side, who had strengthened their squad for the occasion. The top boards saw some good results, with Carles Jordà securing a commendable draw against FIDE Master Carles Salgado, as well as draws from Erik Juez, Jesús Urresti, Georgi Stoykov, and Albert Olivas.

The team's only —and very quick— victory came on the tenth board, where Biel Castellanos managed to prevail in eleven moves to add the point for Lloret.

The team will face Hostalric in the final round of the competition and must win while hoping for a slip-up from Platja d'Aro B to finish second and qualify for the playoffs. However, the season has already been excellent and historic for our club, and with Sant Gregori's defeat in Palafrugell, Lloret has secured third place in the standings with one round to spare.

Lloret B fared better, starting the playoffs for 5th to 8th place with a victory against Gerunda H. After the initial setback, the team responded with three consecutive wins: Bastian Suazo, Sara Planas, and Arnau Jiménez scored the points that secured the victory for the Lloret side. Another impressive showing, therefore, from our youth academy, which continues to grow.

With this result, Lloret B has started this final phase of the competition on the right foot and will play for 5th and 6th place in L'Escala next Sunday.
