Chronicle of the 10th Josep Xapellí Memorial
This Sunday, May 17, the X Memorial Josep Xapellí, a children's chess promotion tournament organized by the Club d’Escacs Lloret, was held in Lloret de Mar. It brought together a total of 34 young players for a day marked by a good atmosphere, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. 
The tournament consisted of 8 rounds with a time control of 5'+3'' and featured participants from different age categories, offering very close games and a high level of play throughout the morning.
The absolute winner of the tournament was Izan Santos (La Verneda-Malgrat), with an excellent performance, achieving 7 points (undefeated, with six wins and two draws).
Prizes were also awarded to the best-ranked players in each category:
- 1st Under-14: Bastian Suazo (Lloret)
- 1st Under-12: Olga Levina (Lloret)
- 1st Under-10: David Escriu (Platja d’Aro)
- 1st Under-08: Quirze Trull (Alt Empordà)
During the awards ceremony, all participants were congratulated for their effort and sportsmanship, and each received a commemorative bookmark for this tenth edition of the championship. Additionally, a watch and a cap were raffled among all participants, courtesy of the Club.
The Club d’Escacs Lloret would like to thank all participating players, families, and clubs, as well as the collaboration of everyone who made possible another edition of this memorial dedicated to Josep Xapellí, founder of the chess section (1987) of the Penya Barcelonista de Lloret de Mar and the Club d'Escacs Lloret (2007).
